The Formulation of Information System Strategic Plan, a significant undertaking for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), took place from September 12 to 15, 2023 in General Santos City. This vital initiative gathered Planning Officers and IT Officers from various ministries, offices, and agencies within the BARMM, bringing together their collective expertise to chart a strategic course in the realm of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
Under the able leadership of the Bangsamoro Information and Communications Technology Office (BICTO), the event aimed to harness the collective knowledge and insights of the participants. The guiding light throughout this endeavor was Ms. Grace Amberong, a distinguished expert in the ICT domain hailing from the National Capital Region. Her extensive experience and profound understanding of ICT principles made her an invaluable asset to the proceedings.
The opening message by BICTO Executive Director II, Jonathan M. Mantikayan, PhD.IT set the tone for the entire event. Emphasizing the significance of the activity, he underscored its direct alignment with the Enhanced 12 Point Priority Agenda of the Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim, Al-Hadj and Moral Governance. This highlighted the critical role of ICT in fulfilling the broader goals set by the Chief Minister, and how this initiative serves as a key response to those priorities.
The activity commenced with an atmosphere of collaboration, where participants were encouraged to share their diverse perspectives and experiences. Through engaging discussions and fruitful dialogues, the attendees delved into the pressing ICT challenges faced by the region and identified potential solutions and strategies.
The participants were organized into focused working groups, each tackling specific aspects of the ICT strategic plan. This division allowed for a more in-depth examination of critical areas such as digital infrastructure, e-governance, cybersecurity, and digital literacy. The discussions were enriched by the diverse expertise and backgrounds of the attendees.
Ms. Grace Amberong played a pivotal role by providing expert guidance and insights. Her presentations were illuminating and served as a catalyst for productive brainstorming sessions. The exchange of ideas was robust and constructive, underscoring the dedication of every participant to collaboratively construct a strategic plan that embodies BARMM’s vision for a technologically advanced future.
